Homemade Simple Syrup Recipe
Starbucks may have discontinued their liquid cane sugar syrup, but you can make a quick homemade version with this easy syrup recipe!
Turbinado sugar gives the syrup a light golden color and subtle molasses flavor. The taste falls right in between classic syrup and brown sugar syrup, making it a versatile sweetener for espresso drinks, iced teas, lemonade, and more.
Ingredients

- Turbinado Sugar: Sometimes called raw cane sugar, Turbinado is a less refined sugar made up of large crystals that have a golden color from natural molasses remaining. This gives the syrup its unique color and flavor. You can substitute Demerara sugar for a similar taste. Using granulated sugar (white sugar) will not give the same taste, but is another way to make simple syrup.
- Water: Helps dissolve the sugar and form the syrup. Filtered water is best, as it has a clean flavor.
How to Make Liquid Cane Sugar

- Step 1: Add the turbinado sugar and water to a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved.

- Step 2: Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before adding to a small jar for storage.
